Description:
Lutheran Social Services of Nevada provides essential services, to people in the low to moderate income range, in the form of emergency food, clothing, health, shelter and transitional housing, supportive services including financial assistance, case management, education programming and "wrap-around" care.
Volunteers are needed in the Intake Office to assist clients by assessing eligibility and directing clients to appropriate services.
Responsibilities
• Sign-in at the volunteer log at the start of each shift.
• Welcome clients upon arrival.
• Explain eligibility rules to clients.
• Determine client eligibility.
• Enter client information into LSSN client services record-keeping system.
• Direct clients to applicable services.
• Additional responsibilities as directed by case management staff.
Work with staff and clients as necessary to maintain a safe environment for all.
Skills Required
• Bilingual in Spanish beneficial but not required.
• Training provided by LSSN operations staff.
Time Commitment
• 3-6 Hour Commitment during open business hours: M/T/W/Th 8am - 1pm.
• Schedules can be accommodated for daily, weekly, monthly, or project-based commitments.
Volunteers are asked to volunteer 6 hours per month minimum
